The Victoria Royals signed forward Kash Alger-East to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement this past week.
The Centerman, was selected 25th overall by the Royals during the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
He brings some size at 5’11 and 166lbs, especially for someone who just turned 15.
“I’m hard to move in front of the net.” said Kash, who describes himself as –
“Strong 200 foot player that can score.”
According to Royals General Manager and Head Coach, Dan Price,
“Kash is a dynamic forward with high end puck skills and a deceptive shot. He is a gritty competitor who has the ability to impact the game regardless of the situation or the style of play.”
Being a gritty competitor, what does that look like?
“Being first one into the zone, forecheck and hit guys.”
Alger-East, who hails from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, tallied 35 goals and 44 assists for 79 points in 29 games with the Battleford North West Stars U15 AA during the 2022-23 season.
He was first in scoring on his team, and top 5 in scoring in the league.
His play making ability had his coach make him the quarter back on the power play.
When asked about which other NHL’ers hailed from Meadow Lake, he was was quick to pipe up, “Dwight King and Jeff Friessen brought (the Stanley Cup) home.”
His thoughts of choosing the WHL?
“Dreaming of it since being a little guy.”
