Today on Bud’s Weekly Geek-out . . .Olympic apps!
London 2012 Results (Official) :: Android / iPhone
Get live results, see the medal count (ranked overall, athletes, or sport), peruse the day-by-day schedule of what’s coming up, mark sports as favourites so you can refer to them quickly in “My Games,” and get bios of all the athletes with their stats and what medals they’ve won.
Bud’s pick: CTV Olympics London 2012 (CTV, et al) :: Android / iPhone
The main screen shows articles, today’s schedule, and live/replay video. There’s also a viewing guide, medal count (ranked overall or by sport), upcoming schedule, and a whole Team Canada section.
London 2012 Join In (Official) (for those in London) :: Android / iPhone
It has a map of London with all the venues pinned, a schedule of what’s coming up and where, and a huge general info section with tips on getting around, where to stay, ticket info, safety tips, and where to watch races for free. Pretty great idea.
Canada Cheers (Canadian Olympic Team) :: Android / iPhone
Social tool to Tweet/FB cheers to Canadian athletes. A smidge clunky (I couldn’t download any of the goodies it offered), but very patriotic.
Medals 2012 :: Android / iPhone
Choose three countries (gold, silver, and bronze, get it?) to quickly see their medal stats when next you visit the app. Also shows upcoming medal rounds and medal winners by sport. It could benefit from a tap-to-show-medal breakdown, rather than just the numbers.
