Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Royals made two selections in the first round of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, the team selected 8th and 18th overall.
With the 8th overall pick, the Royals selected Jacob Schwartz from St. George’s U15 Prep (CSSHL). The centerman appeared in 26 games this season, scoring 30 goals and adding 26 assists for 56 points. He also appeared in 6 games for St. George’s U17 Prep Team. The product of Vancouver, B.C. led the CSSHL in goal scoring with 30 goals. His point total was third most on St. George’s during the 2023-24 campaign. Schwartz stands at 5’9” and 150 lbs.
“Jacob is going to be a high end offensive player who can score and make plays, he is incredibly competitive and steps up in big moments, we are excited to bring him into the organization.” said Royals’ Head Scout Tanner McCall.
With the 18th overall pick, the Royals selected Ludovic Perreault from the Winnipeg Bruins U15AAA (WAAA U15). Hailing from Winnipeg, MB., the centerman appeared in 32 games this season, scoring 67 goals and adding 25 assists for 92 points. He also appeared in 1 game for the Winnipeg Bruins U17 AAA Team. Perreault finished second in goals amongst players in the WAAA U15 league. Perreault stands at 5’9” and 148 lbs.
“Ludovic is a high end centerman, who can play in all situations. He plays with pace and skill. Ludovic thinks the game very well. He has a great shot, good speed, and will contribute in all facets of the game. We are excited to welcome Ludovic to the organization.” stated Royals’ Head Scout Tanner McCall.
The WHL Prospects Draft will continue throughout the day with rounds two through fifteen.
