On Saturday (June 24, 2023), Revelator Coffee shop in Birmingham, Alabama unwittingly played host to a rather impromptu show by hardcore band, Apprehend. What sparked this show is the business’ sudden closure, permanently shutting the doors of the café without the courtesy of any advance warning for the staff.
Some staffers left notes on the windows of the shop, notifying regular customers of the situation – one note reading, “NO warning or severance. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your support and service to us. –The Revelator Team.” There were other notes with employee Venmo accounts posted as a way for the team to find a bit of cash flow during their search for new jobs.

But one former staffer took their anger towards the company owners in a different (more musical) direction, in the form of an unauthorized hardcore show with the recently-closed shop as the venue.
