It was a night to forget for the Royals, while a night to remember for Blazers Matthew Seminoff and Caden Bankier.
The Memorial Cup Host Kamloops Blazers dropped the visiting Victoria Royals 11-1 Wednesday night.
Seminoff had an 8 point night with 4 goals and 4 assists, while Bankier earned 6 points with 3 goals and 3 helpers.
The CHL Top 10 Blazers scored 5 in the first period, added 5 more in the second, and then after notching their 11th, Carter Dereniwsky broke Dylan Ernst’s shut out bid in the final minute of the third.
Netminders Braden Holt and Nicholas Cristiano split the duties, as Kamloops out shot Victoria 48-20 overall.
The Blazers earned their 7th straight, outscoring their opposition 48-10 during that span. They’ve earned 18 wins over their last 19 outings, while the Royals fall to winless in 11.
The 11 goals against ties the Royals record for most goals given up in a game, which last happened on November 18th of 2011, in an 11-3 defeat on the road against the Giants.
The loss overshadowed forward Alex Thacker’s 200th WHL game.
Victoria was also without 5 regulars due to injury, including leading scorer Jake Poole, Captain Gannon Laroque and forwards Robin Sapousek, Marcus Almquist and Alex Edwards.
Up next they’ll visit the Prince George Cougars for a pair of games Friday and Saturday night.
