Bio
Sierra Lundy grew up near the cold waters of a small island off the west coast of Canada. After completing a coast-to-coast stint in higher education—visual arts and musical theory at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and fashion design at Vancouver’s Blanche Macdonald Centre—Lundy returned to her west coast creative roots, immersing herself in modeling, music, dance and visual art.
As one half of indie-folk darlings Ocie Elliott, she has spent the last couple of years roaming across Canada and Europe on several high-profile tours, sharing stages with Kim Churchill, Mason Jennings and Sons of the East—to name a few. Signed to Vancouver-based independent powerhouse Nettwerk Music Group, Ocie Elliott’s gossamer-fine folk sound has struck a chord, leading to over 15 million combined streams, as well as features on shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Batwoman, Stumptown, Charmed, Get Shorty and Legacies.
Guided by a love of creation through collaboration, Lundy has worked with a variety of artists, from dance-centric beat-maker Murge to French folk-rock group Telegraph. She’s also appeared on a number of songs with Victoria bands Jon and Roy and Current Swell. An established visual artist, Lundy has designed album covers for Jon and Roy and Jesse Roper, and her illustrations have appeared in several print publications.
The arrival of Lundy’s solo music project is a realization of her role as an empowered female artist. Released over the summer of 2020, her first two solo singles “Then Again” and “Sailor” are slices of thoughtful, ethereal electro-folk sounds.
“Lundy’s strong, yet breathy delivery could be compared to Cowboy Junkies’ Margo Timmins or Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval.” (David Morrison, Folk Radio UK)
Her third single, ‘Power,’ is fresh out on all streaming platforms, released mid January. It was recorded by Jonathan Anderson, mixed by Andy Park Recording (Noah Gunderson, Pedro the Lion) and mastered by Ed Brooks (Death Cab for Cutie, The Head and the Heart). In writing the song, Lundy was inspired in part by the HBO dramatic tour de force Chernobyl.
The song talks about power held in hands that don’t merit it,” she says, “It looks at vital truths that are hushed and hidden, and the horrifying cost of protecting personal pride.”
Her distinct vocals and original compositions have lent comparisons to female artists such as Lana Del Rey, Cat Power, Weyes Blood and Nilufar Yanya.
