Making Their Marks – Victoria’s newest additions, Jeff de Wit and Braydon Buziak, both made their Royals’ debuts in tonight’s game. Both players recorded assists for their first point in a Victoria uniform, while de Wit also added a goal.
Streaking Skaters – A trio of Royals’ players extended their point streaks in tonight’s game. Tyler Soy has earned 11 points (4g-7a) over his last seven contests, while Dante Hannoun has recorded nine points (1g-8a) in his past six games. Matthew Phillips rounds out the group with seven points (4g-3a) in four games.
Multi-Goal Madness – Royals’ forward Matthew Phillips recorded his team-leading seventh multi-goal game of the season. This year, the club holds a record of 15-2-1-0 when a player scores two goals or more.
Quick Goals – The Royals scored two goals within 29 seconds of each other to set the new season high for quickest goals scored in succession. This passed the previous mark from this year of 40 seconds that was set on November 18th against the Tri-City Americans. The franchise record is eight seconds and was recorded on December 16, 2014 versus the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Potent Powerplay – Victoria scored three goals on the powerplay during tonight’s game to match a season high. The Royals boast a 29/103=28.2% mark on the powerplay when playing at home this season, which is the third-highest percentage in the WHL.
On The Road Again – The Royals will now head on a two-game road trip against the Kelowna Rockets and Kamloops Blazers. Puck drop against the Rockets is set for 7:05 p.m. on Friday night, while Victoria will play Kamloops on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
