[Fight 4 The Cause]: Your toughest opponent is YOU
This is one of my favourite scenes from the movie Creed. My coach, Dean, helped me realize this when preparing for my second fight. My opponent in the other corner was definitely a tough one, but a lot of what I had to overcome in order to get through training was my own fear and self-doubt.
This philosophy helps motivate and push me both in and out of the boxing gym. It’s also what pushes me out of bed and gets me to the gym so freakin’ early in the morning! And now it’s your turn!
Usually around September is when contender bootcamps at Studio 4 Athletics start to get pretty busy as people start to decide whether or not they would like to participate in the Fight 4 The Cause Charity Boxing Classic.
If you’re thinking of joining Jenny and I in taking on the incredible challenge of stepping into a boxing ring for a great cause, now is the time to step up and try it out.
Bootcamps are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the upstairs section of Studio 4 (715 Yates Street).
And yes…it’s a lot of hard work. But it’s also fun…
