MICROSOFT SAYS WILL ‘SOLVE’ CANCER WITHIN 10 YEARS: Microsoft is saying that it will, quote, “solve the problem of cancer” within 10 years by using computer science advances to figure out the code of diseased cells so they can be reprogrammed to being healthy. The company has biologists, programmers and engineers working on cancer, and this summer has opened a lab to begin testing the findings of its computer scientists, who are creating maps of the internal workings of cell networks. Dr. Jasmin Fisher, senior researcher and an associate professor at Cambridge University, told The Telegraph: “If we are able to control and regulate cancer then it becomes like any chronic disease and then the problem is solved.”
