To celebrate World Water Day, The Surfrider Foundation gathered a group of volunteers for a paddle board, beach clean-up and BBQ at the Gorge Waterway.
What they pulled out of the water was INSANE…

A pile of trash including 27 needles, 68 straws, 42 plastic bags, LOTS of styrofoam and other items that could potentially cause harm to our waters, was collected from the water.

Surfrider2A diver, named Rob Field, was even on site to pull up debris from the ocean floor.

Surfrider3 Luckily, Atlas Junk Removal was on board to get rid of all the soggy garbage!

Surfrider5After a successful day of cleaning, the volunteers were treated with some delicious BBQ!
Way to be, Surfrider! We are so Lucky to have you on this Island.

The next beach clean up is on April 10th at Whiffing Spit.
