The Zone is excited for the second annual Vancouver Island Cultural Festival at St. Ann's Academy, Saturday, June 16!

V.I.C. Fest is a one day outdoor festival located in the heart of downtown Victoria. The day will be filled with culture, entertainment, music, art, food, wine, beer and more - an amazing celebration of everything awesome from right here on the Island!

New and exciting things for this year's festival::

• It is now an all-ages event - bring the whole family!

• A second stage has been added to showcase more great artists

Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay

Raise money for the kids and have a blast while doing it!

The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay for the kids returns to UVic June 2–3! The annual community-based fundraising event challenges groups of people to run or walk relay-style for 24 hours around UVic's Ring Road.

Teams of runners and/or walkers, made up of corporate and recreational groups, collect individual pledges or organize team fundraising events to raise funds. Then, all of the teams gather together for the big relay event at UVic for 24 hours of fun, laughter, entertainment and camaraderie!  

All of the money raised will benefit Easter Seals' Camp Shawnigan, giving children with disabilities the chance to discover their individual abilities.

Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live

Join hundreds of bikers on a scenic ride through Victoria for a great cause

The Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live takes to the streets Sunday, June 3, and you could be there.

Join hundreds of bikers on a scenic ride through Greater Victoria in an effort to raise funds for prostate cancer research and education. One in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in Canada this year,so do your part! All funds raised will stay on Vancouver Island.

It kicks off at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 3 at Steve Drane Harley Davidson on the Westshore Parkway (map). The final stop and BBQ will be at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney starting at noon.

JumpShip

Big Air on the High Seas!

The Zone is stoked to once again support the second annual JumpShip, taking over Victoria's Inner Harbour from June 22 - 24!

Presented by Dockside Mountain Bike Society, this world class freeride mountain bike competition is set on a barge, for added awesomeness. This year, the course is bigger and better! Starting on Wharf St., dropping into the parking lot, and then jumping onto the barge - it's the first land-to-water competition course ever!

Throw in live music, a beer garden, the Camp of Champions airbag, an outdoor lifestyle expo, food vendors and so much more - and the excitement is non-stop! You don't want to miss out on this totally unique and FREE family-friendly event located in the heart of our beautfitul city!

Swiftsure International Yacht Race

Watch the race from our very own inner harbour!

The Zone @ 91-3 is proud to present the 69th annual Swiftsure International Yacht Race on Friday, May 25 – Sunday, May 27.

Sailboats of all sizes from 6 meters (20 feet) to 31 meters (101 feet) in length will be gathering in Victoria’s Inner Harbour on May 24 & 25 from all over the Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Vancouver, Vancouver Island & Gulf Islands) in preparation for the start of the race on Saturday, May 26 at 10AM off the Victoria Waterfront.

Swiftsure offers three “across the strait” courses for boats of different ratings and each has an overnight sailing challenge. There is also the Swiftsure Inshore Classic which starts on Saturday morning and finishes on Saturday afternoon followed by a BBQ and prize presentations at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club Clubhouse

The general public is invited to come to the inner harbour on Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25 to see the sailboats prepare for the race. They are also invited to use the Swiftsure Beer Garden at Ship Point on Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening and will get to mingle with the racers.

• You can watch the start of the race from Clover Point on Saturday, May 26. Come early and enjoy a pancake breakfast put on by the Lions Club
• You can watch the sailors finish the race at the breakwater down at Ogden Point
• You can track the progress of your favourite racer on the Race Tracker system at swiftsure.org and listen for updates on The Zone!

Victoria Track Series

Run like ya stole something

The Victoria Track Series is a meet of six evening track events open to runners of all levels, from beginners to elite! The second race of the series is Saturday, May 26 at UVic’s Centennial Stadium, starting at 6:30 pm.

Come on out and challenge yourself in these friendly, yet competitive, races.

The races for the evening will be 1500m and 3k.

New this year is the women’s-only clinic series Monday nights in May (two left on the 21st and 28th).

Power To Be Adventure Therapy and TD present the most anticipated charitable adventure challenge of the year, Power To Play Corporate Challenge on Sunday, May 27 at Vancouver Island Tech Park!

Come support your favourite corporate teams as they run, crawl, slide, jump and push their way through this 4 hour obstacle course, all in support of Power To Be Adventure Therapy.

The 2nd Annual Victoria Nightlife Awards are on July 8 at Club 9ONE9!

The event will recognize the accomplishments of both companies and individuals in 2011 that help to create Victoria's thriving nightlife industry; our city's restaurants, clubs, bars, staff, entertainment and individuals that consistently aid in providing a safe, fun and welcoming night time environment for local residents and visitors!

Victoria Dodgeball Championships

Dodge, Dip, Duck, Dive, and DODGE your way to The Zone Cup!

The eighth annual Victoria Dodgeball Championships move to a new venue Saturday, July 14!

Join The Zone at Royal Athletic Park for a new festival-style atmosphere. Diving: optional. Grass stains: probable. Maximum fun: inevitable!

There will be tons of great prizes, cool giveaways and, of course, the battle for the illustrious and BRAND NEW Zone Cup! 

Put together a team of 6–12 people and register now at Crystal Pool & Fitness Centre (2275 Quadra Street / 250-361-0732)!

Proceeds from the tournament go towards sending financially disadvantaged children to summer camp.

Eves of Destruction

Come out and support The Zone's favourite roller derby girls!

Another season of Eves of Destruction roller derby madness is underway.

Jam-packed with hard hits, thrills and spills - this all-girl flat track roller derby combines athleticism, strategy and teamwork. Each bout is full of entertainment, excitement and tons of energy, so make sure you don't miss out on the fun!

All bouts take place Saturdays at Archie Browning Sports Centre. Doors at 6:00 pm, whistle at 7:00 pm. Here's the season schedule:

• June 23 - Belles of the Brawl (EOD house team) vs. Doomsday Bunnies
• July 21 - Margarita Villains vs. TBA
• August 11 - Belles of the Brawl vs. Rink Minx
• September 22 - Margarita Villains vs. Belles of the Brawl

Tickets are $10 in advance at Logan's Pub, Hive Hair Salon, or at evesofdestruction.ca or $15 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free (maximum 2) with an adult. Limited tickets available at the door, so plan to arrive early to avoid disappointment!
