Victoria Motor Sports Club Annual Rick Hansen Foundation Fundraiser

Oct 2, 2016
08:30 AM - 07:30 PM
Western Speedway

Every year our end of season event is a fundraiser for the Rick Hansen Foundation. If you aren't familiar, they promote research and monies for the treatment of spinal cord injuries and making life easier for those who suffer through these injuries. Motorsports and car accidents are responsible for many of these injuries. That's the background of why we support the foundation.

Every year we donate the proceeds from our last auto slalom event to this cause. Western Speedway graciously donates our track rental for the day. All race fees collected from drivers are donated.

We also run a BBQ and silent auction. We are looking for donations to raffle off in the silent auction, and in the past, we have been able to send the foundation a cheque to help make a difference to those in need. This year we want to increase that substantially. We are proposing to have an end of season event like no other. An autocross on track, and a car show out in the parking lot. It gives people the chance to show off their race car, and race their show car. It teaches car control, and keeps the racing off the streets.

This year we are having a different format from past events. The Vancouver Island Subaru Club is hosting a end of season Car Show and Shine in the parking lot of Western Speedway.
We would like to invite you, your friends and family to come out to the event. Bring your cars to show, or race! Participants in the in the auto slalom event, will have to go through a technical inspection as well as wear an approved helmet. All persons entering the track pits will have to sign a waiver and be 14 years or older. Everyone is welcome in the stands.

The car show will be open to all makes and models, from japanese cars to american muscle. This is the perfect chance for everyone with cars as a passion to get together, and raise money for a good cause. Contact Leigh Gavin of the Vancouver Island Subaru Club for more info on the Car Show.

If you are interested in sponsoring, or donating items for our silent auction, please contact us as well.

We look forward to seeing you all there for a great day on the track!
