The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to invite you to an event to help dispel the myth that only certain types of people are fit for medical school. The UBC Medical School welcomes applicants from all walks of life and encourages diversity in the class. Some examples of people who would benefit from this event are those of non-science backgrounds, aboriginal ancestry, rural origin, challenging life circumstances (family, financial, etc.), and career changes. Admissions and student services will be speaking about the process of application and the support available for students during medical school. Current doctors and medical students will be sharing their stories of how they came from diverse backgrounds, overcame their struggles, and found their way into medicine. From 10 am - 4:30 pm. Start your trick-or-treating off at the Victoria Public Market this year!  From 4:30pm-6:30pm, there will be pumpkin carving the Community Kitchen and Trick-or-Treating for the kids. Dress up in your best Halloween costume, bring your pillow case with you and visit all of our vendors in the Market to stock up on sweets! Plus, John Adams from Victoria's Ghostly Walks Walking Tours will be telling spooky ghost stories until 6:00pm!

Emma Smith was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2012, then going through treatment was free of cancer in 2013. But this year she contracted meningitis and was again diagnosed with cancer. Let's help the Smith family during this fight as they travel back and forth to Vancouver's Childrens Hospital.

Bottles, cans, or even donations can be made at 1280 Palmer Road, Victoria, as well any returns made at Bottle Depots can also be donated to the Emma Smith account.
