This is a 6 part course offered through Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, we will be covering everything from sustainable harvesting techniques, ecosystems information about Victoria, ethno botany and plant ID. When you finish this course you should have everything you need to begin confidently foraging wild foods yourself and have the tool necessary to ID unknown plants and find out if they are good for food or medicine.

You can register through Swan lake website, the course runs Monday nights 6:00pm - 8:00pm from Monday, April 13 - Tuesday, May 26 price is $120.

The Stelly’s Global Perspectives class of Stelly’s Secondary, as well as alumni from the school, are hosting a benefit concert and silent auction to raise funds for relief aid needed in Nepal after the earthquake. Over the past three years, Stelly’s has sent three classes to Nepal to build a women’s shelter in a small village, so the earthquake hit very close to our hearts as well as that community. The event is from 7:30pm until 9:00pm, with the silent auction ending shortly before that time. The event will showcase many local musicians, all of whom are donating their time.

Tickets are $15 at the door, or can be bought ahead of time at the school office. 100% of the proceeds will be going directly to Nepal.

The CC350 (Climate Change 350) is a bike relay and eco-fair with the goal of raising funds to support a local initiative Community Earth Project to travel with solar panels to a primary school in Gwara Gwara Uganda. Another aim of this event is to promote green initiatives at Claremont and in the surrounding communities.

In teams, participants will bike 350 laps around the Claremont Secondary school track, relay style, for a total of 140km. In addition, there will be live music, local food, environmentally education booths, and entertainment for all ages.
 

It is our aspiration to make this event a success in an effort to encourage a positive change in not only our island, but the world.

Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki will be at the Vic Theatre for a discussion Q&A following a short screening, as part of his tour for his new book, 'Letters to My Grandchildren'. The Vic is proud to host this accomplished Canadian for a rare opportunity to look at his past work, combined with his latest book. The screening of Windy Bay, that was produced by The Nature of Things in the early 1980s, is a topic that he still feels is important and relevant today.

Tickets to the event are $15 and the book can be purchased at the event for $27.95. ALL AGES.

Fury - A Night of Amateur Boxing and Kickboxing

We are using our art to bring out the inner child in all of us and to raise money for an amazing cause. First come, first serve by minimum donation. The 26th annual Victoria Symphony Splash takes place on Sunday, August 2th. Every year the Victoria Symphony performs for 45,000 people from a floating stage in Victoria’s picturesque Inner Harbour. Victoria Symphony Splash is expected to bring more than 45,000 people to the Inner Harbour and surrounding downtown area. Victoria Symphony Splash is a fundraiser to support the education and outreach programs of the Victoria Symphony. Suggested donation is $5 and will receive a commemorative pin to be worn to show support for the Victoria Symphony. We appreciate the support and cooperation of downtown business for this special event.

Brought to you by Coastline Surf Shop and South Island SUP the SixPack Race Series invites all paddlers to join in on the fun. Races are offered for Youth, Novice and Competitive Paddlers of all ages. Free for youth paddlers. Lots of draw prozes and spectators welcome.
