Exploring International Internships with VIDEA

Please join VIDEA for a presentation on exploring international internships through our organization. If you are interested in international development and are curious about internship opportunities this is the place for you! There will be a presentation from Executive Director Lynn Thornton, live Skype chats with those currently in South Africa on internships, and time for group activities. We encourage you to come and share with us in the excitement of international development work. The internships are opportunities to develop professionally through international development work. You are also invited to join us at 6:30-9pm for our ‘Flavours of Home Potluck’ in the Wilna Thomas Cultural Centre Room 234.

Golden Gavel Novice Speakers Competition on Vancouver Island is for anyone 17+ and is a novice speaker with 18 months or less formal public speaking experience.

There is a Free Information and Judging Workshop on Saturday, November 21 from 10:00am - noon at Glentana Rec Hall, 1507 Glentana Road.

Preliminary Contests are from Tuesday, February 9,2016 - Friday, February 12,2016 start time at 7:00pm and Final Contest in on Saturday, February 27,2016 start time at 11:00am.

Registration is Free and the deadline is Tuesday, February 2,2016.

Cadets for Vimy 100th Anniversary Valentines Dance

Cadets from the Saanich Peninsula and West Shore are working together to fund a trip to Vimy Ridge in France in 2017. They will be taking part in the 100th Anniversary Ceremony for the batte and victory at Vimy Ridge.

There will be live music, silent auction, door prizes, draws and more.
Tickets are $20 and are available at Sidney ANAVETS and Norma Jean's Closet (5th and Beacon in Sidney).

HeadWay Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Centre is presenting a unique fundraising event that will help you be happier and healthier and raise money for the non-profit agency. The HeadWay Health Fair provides health information and showcases businesses who offer health care support.
The event is open to all who value current health related information and are interested in managing and maintaining optimum health and wellness.
There are over 60 exhibitors presenting products and services to create good health and manage your well-being. Demonstrations include “Brain Food” prepared by Chef Michael Williams at 2:00 p.m., and at 11:45am, Lindsay Beal, a certified Parkinson Wellness Recovery Certified instructor will demonstrate exercises that are customized to achieve positive benefits for your health taken from Lindsay’s “Motion Ways” exercise program.

Guest speakers Dr. Pamela Hutchinson, Naturopath; Dr. Kristen Attwell-Pope and Dr. Brian Christie both neurologists will cover a variety of topics including; neurological wellness & naturopathic medicine, current research and activities in neurology plus the effects of fitness on the brain.

The Didi Society and Belfry Theatre present Create Local: Tackle Global, an art exhibition and sale to celebrate International Women’s Day 2016.

Admission is free.

This is an intimate exhibition featuring fine artwork by emerging artists and a selection of the most acclaimed artists on the Victoria scene.

Please join us for a unique opportunity to add to your collection of local art, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry.

All of the artwork will be priced under or around $1,000, with 75% paid to the contributing artist and 25% to support The Didi Society.

The Didi Society is a Victoria-based non-profit that works to empower women globally through fair trade, and educate youth locally to be changemakers for social justice.

We are very grateful to all the wonderful artists who have generously contributed to this event!
