Another awesome Glow Big or Glow Home golf tournament at Glen Meadows this year! After a delicious meal, a caddy auction, and many tasty Spyhoppers courtesy of Vancouver Island Brewery, the teams decked out in glow sticks and hit the pitch black course for 9 holes glow-in-the-dark golf!...sortof...well, let's just say "Four!" was the most common word of the evening.

First up is Kentuky boys Cage The Elephant.
The Zone rocked danced away the weekend at 6th annual VEMF — the Victoria Electronic Music Festival. With headliners like Donald Glaude and Uberzone at clubs throughout town and during the free awesome-fest at Centennial Square, there was more energy in the city than research scientists know what to do with.
The second stop of The Morning Zone's on-location tour was at The Beacon Hill Children's Farm! Dylan and Jason got to get out of the control room and be one with nature as the animals were let out to roam free throughout the park...Oh, and the farm animals were allowed to roam as well.
Finally, we found an appropriate place for The Morning Zoo!
Keep checking your ZoneMail and the website to find out where Dylan and Jason will be let out to roam next!
Pol broadcasted and Boitano manned the grill as tons of Zoner families joined us for our Zone Day BBQ at Galey Farms!

The Zone had another successful year of keeping runners hydrated at our watering station at The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay!
Teams frequented our tent, where we played frisbee, soccer, bbq'd, and even projected movies on the side of the building all night long (Made for an awkward couple of minutes during the Borat hotel room scene...*shudder*)!
Thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers at the Relay, and especially to the teams, including The Amalgamated Team Zone, for raising money for The Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan
There is still one lingering question...does anyone know how that guy on the stilts used the porta-potty?

The only thing greater than the awesome show put on by April's Band of the Month, Oh Snap!, was their self-made, magic marker, technicolor banner they put up on stage while they played! Another rad showcase at Evolution.

The Clubhouse in the Strathcona Hotel was the perfect place to give away $10,000, and give away $10,000 we did, thanks to our great sponsor, HTO ∙ Sun Surf Swimwear. Watch as people are eliminated in our reverse draw, and as the suspense builds to the last two potential winners . . .
And who wouldn't freak out after winning $10,000??!? Here's Josh, with his gal Kailyn, screaming "YES!," gesticulating triumphantly, knocking people over, and dropping 20s on homeless Victorians while running through traffic. Most awesome.
The Zone's favourite rollerderby chicks, The Eves of Destruction, hosted Vancouver's Terminal City Rollergirls at The Eagle Ridge Community Center for an epic bout! The EOD may have lost, but after some hard skating and legendary hits, they didn't go down without a fight!

You heard it here first...The Zone is offering free radio! With the new rockin' roof speakers on the Xterra, find The Zone Ranger parked around town to listen to the latest modern rock...absolutely free of charge!
...Or you can just stop to laugh and point at Allie's new Zone uniform (bringin' back the oldschool sandwich board), mockery also free of charge!
Being April Fool's Day, something weird had to happen 'round here.
Turns out that one of our creative writers, Angus, had everything he needed for a normal workday stolen off his desk and placed . . . in our vending machine.
At least Dylan was kind enough to leave a pile of pennies, nickels and dimes for Angus to buy all his stuff back with.
Too bad the machine only takes quarters, loonies and toonies . . .
TWO Zone Shows on the same night? No way, thats insane!
Why, yes...yes it is.
But if you were one of the many lucky Zoners who made it to one, or even both shows, then you know how epically awesome the evening turned out to be!
Wintersleep put on one of their greatest performances in Victoria to date at the sold out show at Sugar!
An impressive opening set too by An Horse, a drum-and-guitar duo from Australia!
Lucky Bar was packed as Inward Eye, The Bend Sinister and then Mobile took stage! Their sets were killer (hah. hah.) and full of energy as Zoners took over the dance floor for another memorable Zone Show!

Zone staff, Molson Canadian beer girls, amazing local talent...seriously, what better way to spend the last Thursday of every month?
It was a lucky St.Patty's day for any festively green Zoners who ran into Allie, our Zone Ranger! She was cruising downtown giving out tons of prizes, including tickets to upcoming Zone Shows and tons of gold coins!! (Okay...they were chocolate...but what better to wash down with a pint of green Guinness!)
Weren't so lucky this time?
Listen to The Zone for Allie's whereabouts and keep a look out for the yellow Xterra around town for your chance to win swag!
The Zone @ 91-3 experienced the creative chaos at Fish Hair Salon this weekend for the Haircuts by Children event, a presentation put on as part of The Belfry Theatre's SPARK Festival.
The social experiment had kids aged 10-12 from George Jay Elementary giving free haircuts- everything from simple trims, to crazy mohawks- to anyone and everyone who wandered in off the street!
As you can see from Jeremy's Zoned-out 91-3 carving, the results were pretty rad and always entertaining!
Thanks to everyone who participated (it'll grow back...eventually..) and to all the mini-hair-stylist prodigies!
Check out The Spark Festival website for information and times of more cool events.
The Canucks may have lost, but tons of Zoners walked away winners from another awesome Puck Party at the Four Mile Pub! As always, there was a shoot-out for a Canucks jersey, a draw for Salmon Kings tickets, and a grand prize draw for a trip to see the Canucks play in Vancouver (pair of tickets, transportation and hotel included! Rad-iculous)!
Come out to the Four Mile for the next Puck Party on Tuesday, April 7th, for the great atmosphere, the beer and your shot at the prizes! Or maybe just come to challenge The Zone @ 91-3 staff to a Nacho-eating competition...we dare you.
The Zone @ 91-3 supported a weekend of music and dance as Grupo Axe Capoeria and guest groups from around the world celebrated the lively culture of Brazil. The CD release party got everybody dancing and energized at The Victoria Events Centre on Saturday night, while the show the next day at the Mcpherson Playhouse displayed even more crazy talents, costumes and traditional dances of Brazilian culture!
...meanwhile our Zone Ranger made sure things were going smoothly backstage...by taking pictures with the dancers..?
The Zone Ranger is riding in style thanks to the dudes at Elevated Audio/Video who hooked it up with a new sound system, subs, and a screen and dvd player! They also installed speakers on the roof and a PA system...so if you hear The Zone music in the distance keep a look out for the big yellow truck for ticket/prize giveaways! (Think ice cream truck style! With modern rock instead of rocket pops...)
If you want your ride to be as cool as The Zone's visit the gang at Elevated Audio/Video on Bay St. for all the latest gear!
The week leading up to Tragically Hip tickets going on sale, The Morning Zone invited Zoners to come to The Zone with something they think Dylan and Jason would like to trade for Beat-The-Box-Office tickets to Zone Show #174.
From customized fridges to train lighters, Sega Game Gear to a brass cat, we saw stuff which ran the gamut from junk to gold. And, we sent a bunch of deserving Zoners to see The Hip. Thanks to EVERYONE who came by with their stuff!
After stopping by Zone Control to hang out with Jeremy and jam a bit, FRANCO rocked out at Evolution for another killer Band of the Month showcase! Keep an eye out for their new release coming this spring!

The lucky guys and gals who won their Bachelor and Bachelorettes auctions at The Zone's Valentine's Day Singles Party met for their Big Date Night at The Strathcona! The night started off with complimentary appies and drinks in a private room at The Clubhouse, and the crew kept their rockstar status all night long by taking the party downstairs to the VIP room at Element for a night of dancing (and romancing?)!
Is it just us or does that sound like pretty much the best first date scenario ever?
Ah . . . bringing people together, in The Zone @ 91-3. *insert harp music*
After dropping by The Afternoon Zone for a chat with Jeremy, Montreal's BEAST rocked Lucky Bar for Zone Show #170 with a performance which was not only energetic, but quite funny in parts, too!
No longer a day just for those cute-and-cuddly couples (you know who you are!), The Zone @ 91-3 teamed up with Element Nightclub to put on the ultimate party for singles, withspeed dating, heart match, a message center, bachelor/bachelorette auctions and, of course, drinks and dancing!
Tons of prizes were given away including drink and VIP passes for Element, tickets to Zone Shows like BEAST and Mobile and, in the case of the auctions, a big night out, VIP style, all courtesy of The Strathcona Hotel!
Think the purpose was just to exploit the loneliness and desperation of local singles? Think again! All of the proceeds went to TLC's Fund for Kids!
