Dylan grew up in Victoria. After doing radio for six years, Dylan’s happy to announce that he’s really made it! His $3.50 an hour tells the tale of the tape (the cheque reflects his talent).
Dylan enjoys the simple things in life like family, friends, llamas and stretching his hamstrings. He strongly believes that EVERYONE needs at least one pair of all-white kicks (the seminar on how to keep them clean will be held every second Sunday at the band shelter in Beacon Hill Park — bring your own bottle of Shout).
Dylan would also like remind everyone that if he’s "wearing his sunglasses at night," you don’t have to point it out — he already knows . . . he put them on.
The Morning Zone with Dylan can promise you this; there will always be "something" to wake up to. What that "something" will be is up for debate, but never the less there will be "something."
Dylan would like to leave you with this piece of wisdom: "If you ever run out of the good stuff, and buddy isn’t answering the phone, just go to the park beside City Hall. Never fails."
Jason was born and raised in Victoria, and didn't turn twenty until he was well into his late teens. After some years treading the boards as a stand up comic in Vancouver, he decided to get a real job to avoid starving to death.
After a stint in Kelowna reporting on wine festivals and big trucks, Jason returned to Victoria and joined The Zone as the morning news guy with Dylan.
He also has a paralyzing fear of moths.
Old Skool Love Letters
We want you to e-mail us your old love letters, notes and musings to loveletters@thezone.fm. And if yours gets featured on the air, the Morning Zone will hook you up with dinner for 2 at Moxies and a hockey game on Valentine's Day.

Dearest Shelley,
I watch you at your locker talking to your friends. I love the way your hair looks it shines in the floresent light. I wish I had all of my classes with you then we could be together all day long it would make math class so much easyer. I think of holding your hand and walking down the hall. I wish I had the curage to talk to you maybe ask you to dance at the school dance next week. But I couldn't take being rejected by you it would kill me and I would never be able to show my face at school again. Instead I will watch you from a distance and dream about the time that we could have with eachother. I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me not reveeling myself.
With all my heart and devotion,
Your secret admirerer

10 Day Challenge!
TEAM "HOTDOG DAY" AND I NEED YOUR HELP! For the next 10 days (Feb 01 - Feb 10) I've been asked to help out with this amazing local fundraiser. Now I only need to find 10 people to donate $10...but I figure with your help we could do a lot better than that. Lets see just how much we can raise in the 10 days allowed and show just how generous Zoners really are.
Here's how the 10 Day Challenge works:
What is the "Ten Days" event?
- It's a deceptively simple fundraising plan to raise the final $10,000 to complete the school project in the village of Kubian (West Africa).
- Who is behind it? Matoto www.matoto.org is the non-profit organization who has put this fundraising event together...but, it is powered by you!
- The Ten Days event is built on the notion that if we all do a small part, together, we can do something great, such as help build a school for a small group of children .
- There are 10 teams. Each team has 10 members. Each member is going to ask 10 people if they are able to donate $10 to our school project.
Check It Out:
I urge you to help us make this an overwhelming success by making a donation of $10. You can drop off a cash or cheque (make cheque payable to "Matoto Multicultural Arts Society")donation right here at the Zone (Top Floor, 2750 Quadra Street ).
If you'd like to make a donation online click on our team link: http://tendays.ca/index.html/?page_id=318 and make sure you donate under team "Hotdog Day"....that's my teams name...of course the team name was my idea! I just thought of the best memories I had of Elementary school...HOTDOG DAY!!!
Thanx in advance for your support! For more info on both the 10 Day Challenge and the Matoto Multicultural Arts Society check out these websites:

The Victoria Film Fest. Starts Today And Runs Till Feb 7th
I heavily encourage you to take part in the film fest. Every year the festival gets bigger and better and this year's no exception. We had a couple ladies down to the show this morning talking about their film "THE BROTHEL PROJECT"...

Have A Listen:
THE BROTHEL PROJECT' selected for special screening by VIFPA (Victoria Independent Film Producers' Association) during the 2010 Victoria Film Festival on Sunday, January 31st
- Director April Butler-Parry
- Journalist and activist Jody Paterson
- 'THE BROTHEL PROJECT' follows journalist and activist Jody Paterson and retired sex worker Lauren Casey who want to challenge main stream thinking, push legal limits of the world's oldest profession, and try to open the first ever legal co-op brothel, operated by sex workers - for sex workers - in Victoria, BC. Produced in Association with Canwest, 'THE BROTHEL PROJECT' tests the boundaries of modern day thinking and examines the reality of starting up a new business in the world's oldest profession, prostitution.
Cheers,
D.

Where are the Baby Translators?
Norm Macdonald and his trip to Victoria...
One of the cool things about working with Jason is he's always introducing me to new and very funny comedians. Recently he was telling me how excited he was that Norm MacDonald was coming to play a show here in Victoria. Of course I already knew who Norm was from SNL and Adam Sandler movies...but I had no idea just how funny this guy really is!
Here's a clip of Norm on The David Letterman show quite a while back talking about a trip he took here to Victoria...HILARIOUS!!!
ps. Baker has BTBO Tix. to see Norm MacDonald up for grabs on the afternoon show all this week.
Cheers,
D.
