The Zone @ 91-3 is proud to once again present the 2010 Victoria Film Festival running from Friday, January 29th - Sunday, February 7th.

Like every year, the Victoria Film Festival exposes the city to a broad range of cultural, artistic and philosophical ideas and lifestyles through the presentation of film, video and new media in order to stimulate critical analysis and inspire an interest in using the medium as a creative tool.

This year, The Zone is proud to support the second year of ConVerge, a sub-event of the Victoria Film Festival, inviting people to take a walking tour through parts of downtown Victoria to check out many short films through unorthodox mediums. You'll even have a chance to check out a short film with The Zone Ranger in The Zone's Nissan Xterra!

For 6 magical weeks this Winter, Victoria residents will have the chance to enjoy a much loved Canadian tradition…outdoor ice skating!

You're invited to come out and skate under the stars on the Mayfair Shopping Centre’s rooftop commencing Friday, January 15th and running through to February 28th. Hours are Wednesday to Friday from 4pm - 8pm and Saturday & Sunday from Noon to 4pm. 

A large 80’x40’ synthetic ice rink will be set up on the roof offering a much more environmentally friendly alternative to real ice. You can enjoy the feeling of skating outdoors. There will also be specialty Zone nights where you can skate to music provided by The Zone!

Entry is via the stairs at the Gap entrance to the Centre, capacity of the rink is 40 skaters per hour and hourly skating passes will be available at the Mayfair Concierge Desk.

Skating is free for everyone and there will be many prizes to give away too! If you don’t own skates, a limited supply of rentals will be available on site for $5 a pair, and all rental funds are in support of The Land Conservancy (TLC) and the Victoria SPCA. Children under 15 are required to bring and wear their own helmets.

Former Zone Band of the Month, Jets Overhead, will get to perform alongside such famous modern rockers as Muse, Them Crooked Vultures and Jay Z at the Coachella music festival.

But before they do that, they've decided to be part of a local show to help benefit the people of Haiti in the wake of the recent disaster. Join Jets Overhead at Stelly's Secondary School (1627 Stelly's Cross Road) on Tuesday, February 9th from 5pm - 9:30pm.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Stelly's main office and at the door. Proceeds of the evening's ticket sales, auction and miscellaneous donations will be divided between The Foundation for the Children of Haiti and the Canadian Red Cross.

The Zone @ 91-3 is proud to present the first ever Capital City Tattoo Convention at Pearkes Arena on Saturday, March 13th and Sunday, March 14th!

Hosted by Ascension Studios, come and check out some of the provinces best tattoo artists all under one roof. There will also be entertainment and shows happening all weekend long, plus a beer garden courtesy of Vancouver Island Brewery.

Tickets are available starting on Valentine's Day for $20 (both days) at the Levi's Store on Government Street, Lyle's Place and Vancouver Island Brewery.

The Zone @ 91-3 is once again proud to present the 2010 Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay for the Kids.

The 24 Hour Relay for the Kids raises money to benefit Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan (a camp for kids with special needs). This year, the Relay will take place at UVic's Centennial Stadium on May 29th - 30th, 2010.

The Relay is looking for natural leaders to put togheter teams to raise money for Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan. Registration is now open online at 24HourRelay.com. To start up a team, head to the Relay website and register yourself and your teammates. You can build and edit your team's web page, set a fundraising goal, and tell everyone about your various fundraisers.
