Maurice began in Victoria in parent's basements, community halls, and the bars of Vancouver Island. The young members crafted memorable pop songs mixed with humor, heartbreak, and references to their Western Canadian landscape. These songs caught the ear of David Foster, who was so taken with their sincerity and level of songwriting, that he signed the group to his Warner Brothers imprint, 143 Records, in 2007. The years that followed were a period of growth for the band; they spent several months writing and recording what would become Young People With Faces with Producer Matt Hyde. Recording nearly 25 tracks for the album in Silverlake, Hollywood and Van Nuys during the end of 2008, Maurice had a large catalogue to contribute to their first offering. |

The Zone's Band of the Month is all about promoting hard working local talent.
We offer support to established bands and musicians from Victoria and the southern island through airplay and promotional airtime on The Zone @ 91-3, huge presence on TheZone.fm and a monthly headlining showcase at Evolution.
Each month, our featured band will receive feature play of their music on The Zone @ 91-3, plus they'll be highlighted in a mini audio bio that will air on The Zone between five and seven times each day.
Each Band of the Month will be showcased as the headlining act at Evolution on the final Thursday of the month. A performance fee will be paid based on the number of paid people through the door that night.
The first 50 people at the showcase (between 9:00-10:00 pm) pay no cover, and are entered into an early bird draw for a cool Zone prize of the month.
At 12:30 am, Hot House Pizza brings pizza for everyone there and, at the end of the night, we'll make our grand prize draw for our huge Zone prize of the month!
