Patrick Dea made 27 saves for the shut out as the visiting Tri City Americans blanked the Victoria Royals 7-0 in game 1 of round two.
The Americans led 1-0 after 20, 4-0 after 40 before adding 3 more in the final frame.

Michael Rasmussen and Morgan Geekie tallied 3 point nights with a goal and two assists each, while Jake Bean, Dylan Coghlan and Nolan Yaremko added a goal and a helper each. Jordan Topping and Parker Aucoin rounded out the scoring.

Geekie had 12 of the Americans 39 shots on goal.
Griffen Outhouse took the loss with 31 saves.

Victoria was 0 for 3 on the power play, while Tri City was 1 for 2.
The Royals were missing their top 2 centerman, Tanner Kaspick and Tyler Soy, as well as Dino Kambietz and defenseman Scott Walford.
The Americans came in rested with 7 days between games in contrast to the Royals 2.

Blanked – Tonight’s contest marked the first time the Royals’ have been shut out in a contest this year, which includes the regular season. The last time that Victoria was held without a goal was on March 28, 2017 in the first round of the 2017 WHL Playoffs against the Everett Silvertips.
Former Royal – Americans’ defender Anthony Bishop skated against his former team in tonight’s game. Bishop played in four games with Victoria earlier this season before he was traded to Tri-City on October 18, 2017.
Island Products – The Americans have a pair of skaters on their roster who originate from the Vancouver Island area. Blueliner Dylan Coghlan is a product of Nanaimo, while forward Jordan Topping resides from Salt Spring Island.
