The visiting Victoria Royals were edged 3-2 by the Everett Silvertips Friday night.
Luke Ormsby broke a 2-2 third period draw early in the frame for the eventual winner, snapping the Royals 2 game win streak.
Twice Victoria had clawed back to tie on goals by Dante Hannoun and Noah Gregor, but couldn’t find the equalizer late.
The Royals were outshot 44-22, as Carter Hart earned the win and Griffen Outhouse was valiant with 41 stops in the loss.
Victoria clinched 2nd in the BC Division and home ice advantage against Vancouver in the first round, as the Giants lost at home to the Rockets.
The Silvertips are now just a single point away from clinching first place in the U.S. Division and the Western Conference title.
The Royals went 0 for 4 on the power play, while the Tips went 1 for 3.
Victoria lost Lane Zablocki early with 5 and game for boarding. Scott Walford left in the first and did not return.

The product of Langley, BC played in 90 career games for Victoria from 2016-2018 and registered seven points (3g-4a). The Royals traded Gerth to the Silvertips at the 2018 WHL Trade Deadline in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
On Fire – A pair of skaters extended their point streaks tonight. Veteran Tyler Soy now has points in six straight games and has registered 12 points (4g-8a) during that span. Tanner Kaspick has recorded four points (2g-2a) in his previous three contests.
