Metric has released a new song called “Come on, Angel”, and has yet to confirm if it will be featured on their new album.
We are expecting a follow up to Metric’s 2015 album Pagans in Vegas, but the release date is still unknown.
Before the band’s performance at Rock the Shores last year, I had a chance to talk with Emily Haines about what to expect from their new music. The bad-ass front woman said that they had the idea of doing the exact opposite from the synthesizers and modern sounds in their sixth studio album, and instead are “doing a record where [they get] everyone in one room, all organic sounds, nothing made after 1970”. Haines also addressed some of the unexpected turns that the new album is taking, like including a 60 person orchestra and a horns section from new Orleans. They seem to be letting this record organically come to life without any commercial considerations or timelines.
