Griffen Outhouse made 25 saves for the shut out as the Victoria Royals blanked the Vancouver Giants 3-0 at the Langley Events Centre Tuesday.
“I thought we played solid for 60 minutes, I liked how we started the game, and liked how we stayed within our foundation and played to our strengths tonight.” Said Head Coach Dave Lowry,
Victoria scored once in each period, with goals from Ryan Gagnon, his first of the season, Tyler Soy and Matthew Phillips on the power play in the third.
“Hopefully we’re taking steps in the right direction, and getting better…” said Lowry about the club not letting up,
“These games are going to get harder, and we’re going to have to make sure our game is sound, and if we can do that and play for 60 minutes, we give ourselves our chance to win most nights.”
The Royals out shot the Giants 42-25, and earned their second consecutive 3-0 shutout victory. Ryan Kubic took the loss with 39 saves.
Victoria is now 2-0-1-0 in the 10 game season series.
The club was sporting new look line combinations,
“…We’re just trying to find a way to get a little bit of a boost.” commented Lowry.
Victoria was 1 for 3 on the power play, Vancouver 0 for 2.
The 4th place Royals pull to within 3 points of the idle Rockets, and keep 5 back of the Blazers.
Victoria now travels to Alberta to begin 3 games in 3 nights, starting in Edmonton Thursday.
