Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a music video for “Go Robot,” a track off the band’s new album The Getaway, in which singer Anthony Kiedis recreates several scenes from the iconic 1977 disco movie Saturday Night Fever — except that Kiedis is not exactly wearing his John Travolta outfit. In fact, he’s not wearing much of anything, appearing in the clip as a kind of mime wearing a bowler hat, a codpiece, a lot of white paint and nothing else.
- “Go Robot” is the second video issued from The Getaway, following in the footsteps of “Dark Necessities.” The clip for that track was directed by actress Olivia Wilde.
- The song “Go Robot” features Kiedis singing about how people who separate emotions from sex tend to be more like robots than humans.
- The Getaway is the Chili Peppers’ 11th studio album and debuted at Number One around the world. The band will tour North America in support of the disc in early 2017.
