Ok, there’s a bit more to it than that. If you’re a fine looking ginger fellow with a beard and you also happen to look like Vincent Van Gogh (hopefully with both ears) Douglas Coupland is looking for you!
Yep, that’s the same Douglas Coupland who wrote Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture and jPod (a favourite of mine). You may also know him for his art installations in Vancouver, such as the glorious Digital Whale.
So what’s the deal? Coupland has been commissioned for a large bronze sculpture and he’s decided to crowd-source planet to find the person who looks THE MOST like Van Gogh so that through the magic of 3D printing he can bring his sculpture to life. The winner will receive €5,000 and will be flown with a guest to Vancouver for a unique experience and to be 3D-scanned!
